Who is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is one of the more popular loyalty and consumer rewards program. You can earn points by doing various activities such as answer surveys, sign up for free offers, sign up for paid offers, playing games, and doing various other tasks. You can then exchange the rewards for gift cards or cash out such as Paypal. Swagbucks has been around since 2008. Every 100 swagbucks (SB) is equal to $1 USD.
Ways to earn Swagbucks Rewards
1. Sign Up. You get 300 SB ($3) welcome bonus when you sign up.
2. Shop online for cash back at over 7,000 participating stores and earn Swagbucks (SB).
3. Scan your receipts for cash back. Just snap a picture of your grocery or supermarket receipt and earn SB for cash and gift card rewards. You can earn points with a variety of items.
4. Make money playing games. Do you like playing games? Swagbucks offers a variety of games and you can earn a lot of points if you achieve the criteria listed in the offer. Most of them are free to play but some require in game purchases to receive the reward SBs.
5. Install the Swagbucks browser extension. You’ll earn rewards just for installing it, and it will automatically update you to commerce sites’ coupons, promo codes and cash back deals.
6. Answer surveys for money. Get paid for taking surveys on a variety of topics: shopping online, personal finance, favorite foods, vacation preferences, and more. Marketers want your opinions so they can make better products and services! I don’t recommend spending too much time on the survey since they are really inefficient way to earning points.
7. Redeem Swag Codes that you’ll find on Swagbucks’ social media pages or in browser extension notifications. Sometimes Swagbucks places these codes in various websites and their own websites, so finding them will net you some nice bonus points.
8. Complete offers from partners and earn SBs
Which one is best for making money?
Personally I find completing offers and getting cash back through shopping and uploading receipt to be the best ways to make money through Swagbucks and the least time consuming. There are so many things to do on this website that you can literally spend days doing various things but not earn any SBs.
My favorite partner offers are the bank bonus and the online investment website bonus. Both of these types of offer requires little to no capital and time, and the returns are much more than what you have to put in.
For example, one bank offer might require you to open an account, deposit $25 to get 5,000 SB ($50 value). Another might be similar but require you to spend $25 with the debit card to complete the offer. These are essentially 100% free money because the money you put in is still yours.
The investment offers are similar in that it asked you to invest $5 and then the website will give you $5, Swagbucks will then give you 5,000 SBs, so you end up making $55 in this example with basically no cost. There is a limit to these offers but they seem to also pop up all the time.
Surveys
I personally think completing surveys is a complete waste of time if you are trying to make some decent money here. The website or whoever is offering you the survey will get a nice cut, but you will get very little. Typical payout for a survey is something like 50 SB for 15 min of work or 150 SB for 25-30 min of work; it’s just not worth your time. I would recommend staying away from the surveys unless you qualify for a high value one (something like 5,000-10,000 SB).
This is not only Swagbucks all the survey websites. If anyone actually know of a legit survey websites that pay well (something like $10-20 for a survey), then let me know. As far as I know, only real research / consulting companies will give decent payout like that. You’d be lucky to make that much on a survey site if you work everyday for a full month.
Games
Games are fun but are a waste of time if you are trying to make some decent money; it’s also a grind to hit the goal that will net you the reward. Some games are free but offers in game purchase that will boost your ability to reach your goal.
Some games require purchase + hitting a certain level / goal in order to receive your reward. This is an okay option if you enjoy gaming and don’t mind the grind of leveling and completing the task. I personally find it a waste of time since I’m not a gamer and my goal is to maximize earning SBs.
I also don’t recommend this if you are easily addicted to games. You can easily spend hours on these games since they are not too hard but can be addictive. The objective of these games are to get you play them for as long and as much as possible.
Conclusion
Swagbucks is legit and can be a solid side hustles if you worked on completing some offers each day. You probably won’t get rich off using the website / app, but it can be a decent side hustle. I have made around 80,000 SBs ($800) after completing an offer or two each day.
A lot of the offers will pend for usually between 32-45 days (some can for as long as 90-120 days) so there’s a waiting period to receive some of the points. You can get the points quicker on some of the lower value offers.
