Extra Bucks and Big Loss!

Pharmacy stores like CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aids are overpriced, right? Generally speaking, very much so, I used to never even consider shopping at these pharmacy stores. But they are also stores with some of the best possible rewards when a deal comes along and you combine that deal with manufacture coupons and/or their own store coupons.

For example, CVS offers its own reward system when you purchase a certain item for that week. The items that offer extra bucks are listed on their weekly advertisements. The Free Snuggle Product after Rebate is expiring soon (reminder: July 20th is the last day to purchase to qualify for the free rebate), so we bought a Snuggle product that was around $6.49, we used a $2.00 Extra Bucks that we got from free 4 toothpastes haul last week which is expiring today, and yesterday CVS loaded another $2 Extra bucks on my card just for no reason! So I paid about $2.49 out of pocket. Surprisingly, CVS printed another $2.00 extra buck for this purchase to use next time, this made my purchase even better. Just $0.49 out of pocket and I will get at least $2.49 back from the Snuggle Rebate offer!

Some of the deals can even become moneymakers, which means you are getting more rewards than what you are paying for. Similar tactics can be used at Walgreens and Rite Aid to earn rewards. The rewards are meant to get you to keep coming back, so long as you keep getting useful items every time you visit and you get rewards while purchasing those items, it’ll generally work out to be great value for you.

We generally get 60-70% discount on most items, and sometimes 90% – moneymaker when shopping at one of these stores, though CVS is our favorite due to the proximity and the deals they offer.

We haven’t gotten around to posting those deals on Saving For More yet, but I think eventually we’d like to post some of the deals for everyone.

On a side note, another down day in the market so our investment with Fidelity went down $5,800, ouch! Keep your heads up if you have investment, it always bounces back sooner or later.
